I have been attempting to find my niche, selling handmade yarmulkes via Etsy. I have been using Instagram to show off work in progress, my view from my "office", etc. I get a few followers and often look at their bios to see if I can tell why they liked my bad photographs. When the claim of 'public figure' comes up, I scroll thru their feed and see mostly Snapchat animal photos, nude male muscles or skinny models. Not my ideal clients. I doubt I will ever be a 'public figure', which is fine. I see the phrase and know I am about to see a lot of self-centered indulgence. Blech!
The list you give in the article of public figures are people who had some real brains, struggles and luck. The newest versions of 'public figure' leave me aghast for the future.

Great list! As a developmental editor, ghostwriter, and book publishing consultant, I know writing a book can help you establish your brand, serving as a sort of "credibility card." A strong title, discoverable on Amazon and via Google, tied to the work you are already doing, can help you gain customers (and of course, you can sell the book, too, and use it as the basis of an online course).
