A summary of things you should know about My Fight To The Top according to Michelle Mone

Introduction (01:02)

Seventeen years ago Michelle turned nothing into one of the most successful lingerie brands. Her book, My Fight to the Top, is an autobiography of how she was able to go from nothing to being awarded an OBE from the Queen.

The Book’s Unique Quality (04:42)

I would say that it is very personal and it shows how you can make a brand and get through hard times in your life. At the end of the day we all think we have big challenges but at the end of the day if you can feed your children then everything is ok.

The Best Way To Engage (05:07)

There are chapters that are specific to marketing and PR but to get the whole gist of the story you really need to read it from start to finish.

The Reader’s Takeaway (10:14)

I would want it to be have faith, get into the zone. We all have our ups and downs and our bad days but just stick in there, be focused and have confidence and never give up because if you do that you will make it in the end.

A Deep Dive Into The Book (05:41)

Basically it has my whole childhood and how I started a business when I was 10 years old. I was a paper round and I had 17 teenagers working for me. My brother also died that year which was devastating. When I was 15 my father woke up and was paralyzed and I decided to leave school with no qualifications. I did a bit of modeling and then I met my now ex husband when I was 17. I set myself a goal that I wanted to achieve in both my personal life and professional life and I set a goal that I wanted to running the business I was working at in 3 years and I did that within 18 months.

When I was 22 years old I went out to dinner and found myself very uncomfortable in a cleavage type bra and that’s when I decided to invent my company and I spent 3 years doing that. The book reveals all the trials and tribulations of inventing a product. It ended up launching with a bang and being sold all of the world. I put on 96 pounds of weight from the stress of the business and quite an abusive relationship because my husband worked in the business as well. The book shows how I just got on with it and battled through and focused on my business. I then found out about my husbands affair and bought him out of the business and found new partners.

Now what I do is go around the world meeting people and trying to give back.

The Credibility/Inspiration Of The Author (02:20)

I’ve been offered book deals for the past 6 years but I wasn’t ready. I decided I wanted to write an autobiography that showed how being an entrepreneur has really shaped my life. I wanted to show how you turn hard times and stay focused and positive and turn those situations around. From being in business and turning the company around and going through a very public divorce, I wanted to show how you can turn that around.
