When you have to work over 10 hours a day on the multiple tasks it takes to establish a business and keep one on track, the one thing many entrepreneurs tend to neglect is their own personal health and happiness. From one hard worker to another we all need to slow down a little and consider what we can do to make our lives better. Considering it’s that time of the year when everyone is making new resolutions, why not set some personal goals?

Here is a solid list of resolutions for improving your health and happiness:

1. SMILE AND LAUGH

Just as the brain signals your facial muscles to smile when you are happy, the flexing of these muscles sends signals to the brain that there must be a reason to smile. And it starts to feel happy. And a smile brings out the best in you. A laugh can put your life in perspective too.

2. EXERCISE REGULARLY

An entrepreneur has to deal with high levels of stress, and regular exercise helps you reduce this. It also fights health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis. And it greatly boosts energy and aids sleep. And exercise also lifts your mood and helps you face the challenges that come your way.

3. EAT HEALTHY

A bagel and a cup of coffee don’t exactly count as breakfast. If you don’t have time, at least have a bowl of quinoa or oats before you start your workday. And instead of munching on fries and gulping down smoothies, opt for nuts or sprouts and fresh fruits. Fat and sugar slow you down; cut down on those.

4. DON’T SKIMP ON SLEEP

Margaret Thatcher may have done with 4 hours of sleep a day, but it isn’t the best idea for most. Make sure you get ample shuteye to make sure you feel fresh and energized for the workday. Otherwise, you will just end up as a lousy entrepreneur, and may be a cranky boss.

5. SET SOME ME-TIME

Don’t let your work eat up your entire day. Set aside some time when you can be on your own, doing whatever you feel like. It may be catching up on your sleep, reading your favorite book, or just chatting with your mates. It will help you get a mental recharge, one you will need once you are back to being an entrepreneur.

6. LEARN TO SAY NO

Saying yes, or even maybe, when you know in your heart that the best answer is no is a bad idea. It will mess up your life, work and relationships. Cannot deliver an order on the required date? Say no. Cannot go out with your best friend this Thursday? Say no. And you’ll see that things get much better.

7. STAY ON TOP OF SCHEDULE

While it isn’t always easy to do it, it really is your best bet to work out your life and work. It is tempting to check your email at the beginning of the day, but if you have set your heart on working on a difficult project, stick to your routine. And while it is fun to be spontaneous at times, it is better to keep it in check.

8. MOST IMPORTANTLY, DON’T BREAK THE RESOLUTIONS

It is easy to make big proclamations; but often it isn’t easy to keep them. Just taking them won’t do, you need to maintain them too. If you fear that you won’t be able to do it, pin the list down on a board and keep it somewhere you’ll always see it.

Once you do it, even a busy entrepreneur such as yourself will have a happy and healthy life.

Brandon Epstein is a full-time entrepreneur, fitness model, and is the coach and founder of Entrepreneur Fitness. These days, he spends his time teaching other entrepreneurs how to be the best versions of themselves. Most notably Brandon is also the author of “Limitless Energy” and has been successful when it comes to showing people how to have more energy and achieve a higher level of health.

There are five lessons every entrepreneur can learn from Brandon Epstein.

1. Make Time for Exercise

Everyone needs to make time for exercise, no matter how busy they may be. Too many people complain that they don’t have enough time or that they are too tired. Brandon Epstein has heard all of the excuses that are out there and he wants to make sure everyone is well aware of one thing: exercise provides more energy. When there is cardiovascular activities performed, it unlocks the physiology and provides a burst of energy that can be needed to get a person through the rest of the day.

The exercise can be first thing in the morning or in the middle of the day. Often, waking up one hour earlier can be the best way to start off the day – and it will provide more energy to work the long hours that entrepreneurs must often work.

2. Learn the Healthy Foods to Eat

Entrepreneurs will often have power lunches where there is a lot of brainstorming. Connections are made over meals and this is a great way to meet people and close business transactions. What a person orders matters. There are healthy foods, whether they are being cooked in the kitchen or ordered at a restaurant. Learning about the foods that boost energy and don’t cause an energy depletion are critical.

It’s important to know about the starches and how to create a balanced meal. There are a lot of foods that have hidden starches, such as corn and peas. Many people think they are doing right by eating the vegetables, but they are really consuming extra starch. A good rule of thumb is to add color to the plate and this can be done with some leafy vegetables like spinach or kale.

3. Meditation Is Great for Entrepreneurs

Meditation is not just for the “New Age” people or the hippies. Brandon Epstein learned about meditation many years ago and it has helped to shift his mindset and release stress. When the body and mind is less stressed, the body uses less energy and there is a more personalized state of flow – one that works specifically for the individual.

There are visual and audio cues that can be used for meditation and it is of the utmost importance to take the time to meditate throughout the day. This can be as a way of establishing a mental center when everything is chaotic. Sometimes it is just about making the time to close the door, close the eyes, and focus on what’s going on. The deeper a person goes, the more it can help to heal the body, mind, and spirit.

4. Energy is Limitless

An important lesson that every entrepreneur needs to learn is that energy is limitless. There are too many business professionals that walk around sipping coffee and performing like zombies because they have allowed their energy levels to get dangerously low – and this is not only bad for productivity but bad for one’s health as well.

Energy is limitless and there’s a Zen-like approach known as Zentivate that allows individuals to tap into all of the stored energy more effectively. This will lead to more synchronization and a boost in one’s spirit. It’s a combination of exercise, eating right, getting enough sleep, meditating, and simply being in tune with one’s body. It’s an easy concept to grasp as soon as one learns what is involved.

5. Envision the Change

Vision boards have grown in popularity because they allow people to envision the change they want to see in their lives. Such tools are not foreign to Brandon Epstein. He envisions the changes he wants to see in his life and this allows him to pursue them more effectively. This is one of the lessons that entrepreneurs can learn from him. The only way to create change is to see it – and many people need to have a clear path to figure out how to make this happen.

The change that one envisions can take on many shapes. It can include how a person wants a sexier body, more clients, a more refined sales approach, better networking skills, or anything else. Change can also occur across the board in multiple categories.

Entrepreneurial coaching allows people to become the best versions of themselves. Brandon Epstein is available for coaching, where people learn how to transform their body, mind, and ultimately their life in order to succeed in all areas.
A summary of things you should know about Unstoppable according to Pete Wilkinson:

Introduction

In this episode Pete Wilkinson shares his book, Unstoppable where he shares his expertise on becoming super determined, motivated, and focused.

In his book Wilkinson provides a roadmap to eliminate procrastination, seeing plans all the way through, and doing more than you ever thought possible. The goal of the book is to help you focus your attention on key goals, improve the relationships in your business and personal life, learn how to be an effective leader, and build an action plan around your main strengths.

This book is perfect for entrepreneurs who want to be driven, determined, and unstoppable, yet lack the proper motivation techniques to make a move in the right direction.

The Book’s Unique Quality (2:52)

Unstoppable is a four part system and a process to becoming unstoppable. It isn’t just about giving you a couple of tips but rather the whole foundation of the book are my one, three, five action plan. It’s not just a book to read but I also answer some of your questions you might have and help you with the process. The main reason the book is different from others is because I am sharing a system that I have proven time and time again with other entrepreneurs on how to be unstoppable and make the most of yourself.

The Best Way To Engage (4:19)

This book is really designed to be read from front to back. I created four different parts of the book that you could jump into separately if you wanted to.

The Reader’s Takeaway (12:11)

You must answer the question if I was the very best version of me, what could I achieve. Once you answer that question you need to have a crystal clear vision of what success and happiness looks like for you and make that happen.

A Deep Dive Into The Book (5:26)

I built the book around four different parts. Part One I have called The Beginning and the reason just to go into the background of why I believe it’s important to develop an unstoppable attitude. I am very passionate about how important attitude is and I think you need to have a very process driven attitude that allows you to achieve what you’re capable of achieving. Part one emphasizes as to where you are now is not where you need to be. You don’t need to just stay where you are now if you want to improve. This first part frames and goes into detail on what I call the one, three, and five action plan which is the foundation of the unstoppable attitude system.

Part Two is where we really get into the detail and that’s where we start the foundation. We have various chapters in here and things emphasizing that the beginning is all about your habits and how successful people have successful habits. As we progress from the habits we then go into the actual components of the action plan which start with a crystal clear vision. In this section I share my vision and a hand written drawling of what my plan looked like. We talk about the different steps of creating a picture, describe what your perfect day look likes and imagine what life might look like when you achieve it. I show the reader a very systematic process of creating a vision by asking certain questions that would allow you to get a crystal clear vision. If you’re going to achieve this vision then you need to focus on three core objectives. Realizing that it’s not going to be an overnight thing but by breaking it down you are directing your attention exactly where you should be. The final part of the foundation process is the goal part. We all know we need goals but what I am suggesting in this system is to have five stepping stone goals for each objective. So what you have is a very simple vision up on top, you then have three core objectives sitting beneath that and then feeding from each core objective you have five goals.

We then look at key skills. I believe there are four key skills we need as entrepreneurs. We need to be better at leadership and I think we should start with self-leadership. We then need to look at personal organization; we then need to really focus on relationships and finally strength development.

Finally we look at Part Four which is the next 12 months. Here we do a review of various things, your product, your people, your team, and time. So what we are doing here is optimizing you to have the best next 12 months. And that’s where we go through a very simple process and we look at different levels of value. We look at how you need to go about making sure your products, team and time are right. It’s really from start to finish beginning with the idea of why to have this unstoppable attitude then showing you how to have an action plan to create a plan that fits on a single page so it’s very easy to use. From there we look at the execution skills and then finally looking at the next 12 months ahead.

Notable Quotes From The Book

“The key question many of us need to ask ourselves more often is if I was the very best version of myself what could I achieve?” – Pete Wilkinson

The Credibility/Inspiration Of The Author (0:58)

I am primarily in the space of focus and consistency – taking action. Everything I do whether it’s with clients, speaking or workshops, is around the focus and consistency and using my skills. So it’s all around the space of how to be focused and consistent to get the results that you should really be getting.

I was sharing the system that the book identifies with my clients but really only making a small impact in the number of people I was reaching. I was getting a little frustrated that people were making some really good gains with the system but it wasn’t being shared enough. The idea of writing the book was to give them a system that could be shared to a large number of people and have an impact with someone that they have never met before.

A summary of things you should know about Hit The Mark according to Erik Fisher

Introduction

In this episode Erik Fisher shares his book, Hit The Mark, where he gives you practical and motivational advice on handling focus, approaching your goals, and maximizing your success.

In his book, Fisher outlines tips to help you improve your focus, strategies to help you get the most out of your time, energy boosters to make you feel better, and techniques to make you not feel like a robot. The goal of this book is to improve your focus, boost your energy, and crush time management.

This book is perfect for entrepreneurs who are having trouble getting the most out of a day’s work because of fatigue, low motivation, and continuous distractions.

The Book’s Unique Quality (2:58)

There really is not another book out there that is as focused as this one is about doing your work and continually doing it even when you don’t feel like it.

The Best Way To Engage (4:05)

I think it’s best to read the whole thing straight through.

The Reader’s Takeaway (15:22)

You have to look at where you are not hitting the mark and analyze why you’re not hitting it. Through trial and error figure out why you’re not and how you can.

A Deep Dive Into The Book (5:01)

Everyone has something that they need to do, something that needs to get done. Knowing what needs to get done is half the part but actually doing it is what really matters. As we go through the book we talk about where energy and time intersect for focus so that you can find your sweet spot and assign the right amount of time to each task at hand.

We talk about mental distractions, focusing on your strengths and what motivates you so that you can bust through and blaze past those distractions. It is a lot of walking through what you think and feel. When you rationalize things as real work, that aren’t real work, you instill bad habits in to your routine and end up not getting anything done.

Notable Quotes From The Book (16:23)

“When you work at the right time you get more work done.” – Erik Fisher

The Credibility/Inspiration Of The Author (0:38)

People may know me from the internet as a person who writes, podcasts and is community manager over at Social Media Examiner. I podcast at beyondthetodolist.com and the most recent book I co-authored was Hit The Mark.

The idea was that we want you to improve your focus, boast your energy and make the most of your time. We knew we needed to go to a place where we talk about those things that help you continue to move forward and have forward momentum on those goals.

A summary of things you should know about Limitless Energy according to Brandon Epstein:

Introduction

In this episode Brandon Epstein shares his book, Limitless Energy where he provides 10 simple daily habits to naturally boost energy. Epstein is a firm believer that when you provide enough energy it allows you to take all the other tools you have at your disposal and use them with much more effectiveness.

In his book, Epstein, walks you through 10 daily habits to create sustainable and limitless energy such as breathing properly, hydration, meditation, nutrition, and much more.

This book is perfect for the very busy and resourceful entrepreneur who needs an extra boost of energy in order to perform with greater effectiveness.

The Book’s Unique Quality (2:57)

I think a lot of entrepreneurs write books and they’re very business oriented but what I am doing is targeting entrepreneurs and giving them something that I believe is going to uplift all these other tactical things they are doing. When you provide enough energy it allows you to take all the other tools you have at your disposal and use them with much more effectiveness.

The Best Way To Engage (3:33)

This is the type of book you can grab here and there. One day implement one tool and the next grab and implement another if you want.

The Reader’s Takeaway (16:00)

Be incredible conscious with hydrating yourself. If you’re going to do one thing really focus on trying to drink half your body weight of water every single day.

A Deep Dive Into The Book (4:11)

I came up with 10 simple daily habits that really allow people to maximize their energy without any synthetic uses of any other drugs. Through these 10 simple daily habits it’ll give you the tools to be able to keep energy from the second you wake up to when you fall asleep at night and allow you to do so in a very healthy way.

The first daily habit is breathing properly. Most of us take very shallow breaths through our upper respiratory system and we aren’t taking deep low belly breaths which allows for full oxygenation of our entire body. If you’re not breathing properly you are only getting about 70% oxygenation. And when you do so you are really missing out on a large amount of energy that could be circulating throughout your entire body. Breathing properly is also going to allow people to increase energy; it’s going to allow them to gain a little bit of perspective throughout their day.

The second daily habit is hydration. Our brains are made up of 75% water and over 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Doing something as simple as trying to consume at least half of your body weight in water on a daily basis is going to really help you increase your energy.

The third daily habit is something I call The Energizer. This technique uses self-talk, affirmation and movement with your body. Techniques like the energizer sounds silly and make you feel a little bit uncomfortable but when you do them they really are life changing.

The fourth daily habit is called Energy Meditation. Meditation for 20 minutes a day in alpha brain waves allows you to make up for at least an hour of sleep. I cannot downplay how important meditation is to your daily practice especially if you are someone who often gets overwhelmed, has a hard time staying focused or chronically tired.

The fifth daily habit is nutrition. Food is so important as far as staying in peak state as an entrepreneur. If you go throughout your workday and eating very simple carbohydrates what you’re doing is programing yourself to come up on a short high and then crash. When you do this you won’t be in your most resourceful state, you’ll lose your energy, you won’t feel as happy and you won’t preform as you would otherwise. This habit talks about the type of foods you should be eating, how frequent you should be eating them and how to make sure that we are feeding our brain what it needs.

The sixth daily habit is about moving your body. Moving your body is so powerful. When you are exercising you are releasing endorphins and you’re getting blood flow throughout your body and more so to your brain. Exercise is one of those things that you have to incorporate into your daily routine if you want to have high energy.

The seventh daily habit is about making sure you’re recharging your battery. This isn’t just about sleep but sleep is a big part of this. When we are not sleeping enough our bodies cannot function properly. New research shows that about seven hours of sleep is the optimal amount for humans to be able to be in their most healthy and resourceful state. And you will find the other technics in the book.

I like to think of energy just like a muscle. Energy is something that not only something we are naturally producing on a minute by minute basis but also something that we can program to increase for a longer period of time. I think that energy, just like we train a muscle, gets stronger. We want to program ourselves to be high energy all the time because it continually sets the bar higher and higher.

The next habit I talk about is the importance of making sure you’re living an inspiring life. If you’re doing things that are constantly draining you of energy, it’s really hard to get back into that resourceful state. Do everything you can to force yourself to do things that inspire you. I recommend that everyone spends more time getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.

The final daily habit I talk about is creating morning routines. Start a routine where you start your day on airplane mode that way you aren’t bothered by others. Do all the things needed in the morning to make sure you launch off each day in peak state.

Notable Quotes From The Book (18:00)

“The more real you get the more unreal your life gets.” -John Lennon

The Credibility/Inspiration Of The Author (1:20)

I have a company called Entrepreneur Fitness where we take all the inspiration and tools possible, through it up on EntrepreneurFitness.com where we provide resources for entrepreneurs to help them take their game to the next level.

I was a professional fitness model that turned into an Entrepreneur with an app company and I realized while getting into entrepreneurship that the #1 important resource to me was energy. I did not see any resources out there specifically targeting entrepreneurs promising limitless energy.
