<p>I write parables and it’s about a couple that goes back to their 45th high school reunion and they are a little disappointed that so many of their classmates look at aging as a sentence rather than an opportunity. And there is an old teacher of theirs who ended up going and getting a doctors degree who invites them both to come see him. After going to see him they discover that there are four areas that we ought to all look at. The first area of refiring is emotional relationship wise and we ask the question are you doing the same thing with the same people in the same way? And have you met any new people? What are you doing to get out of your comfort zone? </p>
<p>The second area is figuring out what you are doing to refire intellectually. </p>
<p>The third area is your physical self which is very important. </p>
<p>Finally we talk about what you want to do to refire spiritually and who you really want to be in the world. </p>
<p>Refire is about getting zest in your life on an ongoing basis and making your life exciting no matter what your age is.</p>

What I am saying is that there is a fundamental misunderstanding at play that is really crucial in terms of performance that 90% of people are overlooking. I share some informative insights that shed light and points to just how misunderstood performance is. This is my attempt to see the proof of this misunderstand, to be able to relate to it directly, and be able to see where in your life this makes sense to you. I talk a lot about state of mind and the role it is playing. </p>
<p>In part two of the book I talk about bringing to life the foundation and understanding that I am sharing in part one. I give lots of client’s stories and research throughout the book where I try to bring to light something very powerful about the nature of thought. I have chapters that are focused on the notion of identity and who we are verses who we really are. I help the reader to see who you are before your thinking about who you are and the implications for you as a leader. </p>
<p>The book is about why state of mind is everything and how we are missing one simple truth about how it works and how seeing through that can change everything.</p>

Before that I worked in a corporate environment for 15 years in a commercial role in sales marketing. <p>When you start on your entrepreneurial journey, you are sure to hear one important piece of advice – you need to maintain a work-life balance. But what exactly does it mean? Does it imply that you divide your day into two equal parts – one dedicated to work and the other to life? Not really! </p>
<p>Work-life balance implies that you put equal emphasis on the two. But it’s easier said than done. It can be difficult to think of your life separately when you have to juggle numerous roles and handle numerous responsibilities. So, what do you do? </p>

<p>Not just the work portion, but every part of it. And try to stick to your routine. There will be times when you have to reschedule a meeting or attend your child’s ballet recital. But otherwise, you need to plan out how you will spend the day. This way you can avoid the fear that something you wanted done won’t be on done on time. </p>
<h4>Tip 3: Don’t set yourself up for failure.</h4>
<p>Setting a big goal for the year isn’t a good idea. Instead, focus on smaller goals that you need to achieve within a week, or may be a month. It will make you feel good when you achieve these smaller goals. And it will also help you attain the bigger goal you want to achieve in the long run. </p>
<h4>Tip 4: Don’t neglect your health.</h4>
<p>While you may love to handle every little detail for your business, if this means that you skip your breakfast, miss your exercise or don’t get enough sleep, it isn’t really the best thing for you. Eat healthy, exercise regularly, and get enough rest; and you’ll see what a difference this little things make in your life. </p>
<h4>Tip 5: Set aside some ‘me’ time.</h4>
<p>Taking care of your physical health isn’t the only thing you need to do. You need to refresh and re-energize your mental and spiritual self too. Go on a date, indulge in a spa break, plan a vacation, or do whatever you feel like. And switch off your Smartphone and leave your laptop behind on these occasions. </p>
<h4>Tip 6: Remember your family and friends support.</h4>
<p>Be grateful every day for how everyone in your circle of life helps and supports you. It may be your spouse helping with housework or a business associate chalking out a financial plan. Say thank you whenever you feel; expressing your gratitude always makes you feel better. </p>
<p>Being an entrepreneur doesn’t necessarily mean losing sleep or finding no time for it altogether. If you love what you do, you can build your business into your lifestyle. And this way, you will be able to achieve the right balance between work and life. </p>
<p>Also, don’t stress about balancing your work and life. It will only mess up things even more. Instead, focus on what you need to do to stay healthy and happy. And when you love your work as an entrepreneur and be part of your circle, you will find that the work and life portions works out on their own. </p>

<p>For the budding entrepreneur, there are many lessons that can be learned from the teachings of Jon Gordon. No matter how old a person is or what their level of business experience is, they are able to gain important perspective by practicing what he preaches. The following are the five key lessons to be learned from Jon Gordon.</p>
<h4>1. Discover Your Passion</h4>
<p>Gordon is consistent with his message, telling his acolytes about the importance of discovering what they are passionate about and pursuing it. He believes that we are all put on this planet for a specific purpose and that life is meaningless unless you take the time to chase it. </p>
<p>Fortunately, he also teaches people that their passion may not reveal itself immediately. While you may not know what your passion is at the current moment, you must live your life in a way that increases your chances of finding it. </p>
<p>The best way for a person to find their true calling is to seek certain jobs and experiences that will nurture their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Everyone has a gift, something that they were born to accomplish. Identifying that gift and allowing it to blossom is crucial to a person&#8217;s long term success and happiness. </p>
<h4>2. Beware Of Your Hobbies</h4>
<p>When people are trying to figure out what their gift is and how to fulfill their purpose on this planet, they will often select hobbies as their default strength. Jon Gordon teaches us that just because we love spending time doing something, this does not mean that we will be able to make a career out of it.</p>
<p>Someone may truly enjoy spending time on their social media pages, but this does not mean that they should be working for Twitter or Facebook. You may enjoy making food for your friends and family. However, this does not mean that you have what it takes to be the next top chef.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s important to zero in on the aspect of the hobby that you truly love the most and focus on that. For example, a person who enjoys restaurants and fine dining may believe that they need to own a restaurant in order to realize their dreams. </p>
<p>There is a way for every person to participate in their hobby, without simply trying to monetize something that they would do for free anyways. </p>
<h4>3. Learn From Past Experiences</h4>
<p>Even if the current job or career that you have is not totally fulfilling, there is no reason why you should not be able to gain valuable lessons and insight from it. Every experience that you have, no matter how good or bad it is, prepares you for the future in ways that you are not able to currently imagine.</p>
<p>Being forced to take a job that is below your current station or is not related to the field you&#8217;d truly like to be working in can be a tough blow. But the person who dedicates themselves to the task at hand and focuses on how they can help the company or business they are a part of can open up doors to new opportunities down the line.</p>
<p>Nothing in life is permanent and the person who realizes this fact and decides to simply gain as much as they can from the situation they are in positions themselves for bigger and better things. Each moment of our lives, even those that seem truly insignificant, prepares us for what&#8217;s to come. </p>
<h4>4. Your Dream Job Isn&#8217;t The One You Dreamed Of</h4>
<p>Jon Gordon teaches us that the first step towards our dream job is to quit the one we have. But, he preaches the importance of quitting that job for the right reasons. Our dream job will not materialize just because we get frustrated with the job we have and walk off in a huff.</p>
<p>People spend their whole lives preparing for a job that they&#8217;ve envisioned in their mind&#8217;s eye since they were young. Life does not tend to work out that way. Most times, we tend to end up with a great career that is unlike the one we spent our lives dreaming about and preparing for.</p>
<p>The dreams we have during childhood and throughout our formative years can help to guide us, but should not be seen as a blueprint for living. Keeping your options open allows you to end up with an amazing career, one that you did not see coming.</p>
<h4>5. The Future Can&#8217;t Be Rushed</h4>
<p>We are always in a hurry to move on to the next thing, before we&#8217;ve even figured out the present moment. Jon Gordon believes that there is a seed inside all of us and that the process of nurturing this seed so that it can grow into a proper plant should not be rushed for any reason.</p>
<p>It is human nature to want things to happen for us right now. People tend to be very impatient, not realizing that if they get what they want before they are truly ready, they may not be able to rise to the occasion.</p>
<p>There is a certain process that must be adhered to and work that needs to be done along the way. The path to achieving your purpose does not occur in a linear fashion. Allow the process to prepare, shape and mold you, so that when opportunity finally does knock on your door, you are prepared to answer. </p>

<p>In this episode Mark Sephton reveals all his insights on his book, <em>Inside Job</em> where he shares earth-shattering methods and mindset shifts that will turn failing businesses around.</p>
<p>In his book Sephton provides an inside look into his personal struggles with entrepreneurship along many other success stories that have resulted in the ability to turn dreams into reality. The goal of the book is to help you strengthen your mindset, build your character, harvest your thoughts, and stimulate your personal growth in order to turn your struggles into actionable advantages to achieve your dreams.</p>
<p>This book is for entrepreneurs who are struggling with their inner abilities to overcome entrepreneurial failure and need help in developing a stronger mindset that will get them through their struggles.</p>
<h4>The Book’s Unique Quality (3:20)</h4>
<p>I share my own story in the first few chapters because I really want people, when they read the book, to understand that I wasn’t born with a silver spoon and I went through many setbacks to get where I am today. This book isn’t just about business but also about connecting your heart with your head.</p>
<h4>The Best Way To Engage (4:41)</h4>
<p>The reader can jump in and out of the book. There are 23 chapters in the book and 20 of them are only 3 to 5 pages long.</p>
<h4>The Reader’s Takeaway (23:39)</h4>
<p>The whole book is really about how we are only as good as the thoughts we think. We have got to be mindful of the fact that once we find out who we are, and what we were created to do, that then is when we really start to live. Sadly some people go to the graveyard not knowing who they are.</p>
<h4>A Deep Dive Into The Book (5:50)</h4>
<p>The first few chapters are very much about my own journey and I’ve titled them Discover, Imagine, and Achieve. Discover is my childhood and what I had to go through, some of the challenges there. I really want people to be able to relate; everything I do needs to be athletic, real, and provoke people’s emotions so that they realize that I know what I am talking about. The chapter titled Imagine is about that transition from me being a teenager into becoming a man. And the Achieve chapter launches into all that I’ve achieved in the last few years. </p>
<p>The next chapter is titled Entrepreneurship and the concept of this chapter is about having an idea and pointing it into reality. And along those lines is the fact that we have to take risks as entrepreneurs and the ability to take a thought and put it into action. Entrepreneurship is about having a create idea and about having a market where the product or service is required because if you want to make a lot of money you’ve got to find a solution to others problems. </p>
<p>Chapter two I have titled Personal Revolution – Be you, everyone else is taken. It’s important that, as entrepreneurs, we create the environment and culture of an inner sniper. The whole concept of the inner sniper and creating your own personal revolution is based on the fact of what is the right environment and culture for you to be able to execute and come alive and to make sure that your business and your life really embrace that concept.  </p>
<p>Chapter three is called Bread for Your Head. Far too many people are backseat drivers in their own lives. Bread for the head is the concept of educating your mind. I encourage and inspire people to take the wheel of their lives. If you want to change the way that your life is moving you can do that by the thoughts that you think and by what you feed your head with. </p>
<p>Chapter four is Focus – Life is a marathon not a sprint. Here I share some of the challenges that we have to really focus in today’s world that we live in because there are so many voices. </p>
<p>Chapter five is Sleep R&#038;R and timeouts – Breaks lead to breakthroughs. I find that people often see startups as having a baby where you have to give it around the clock treatment and investment. Which I agree with but there is a time and a season to pour into that. This chapter is really about the whole concept that breaks lead to breakthroughs. </p>
<p>Chapter six is positive habits. It’s about making the mental shift from problems, obstacles, and excuses to solutions, thanks, and gratitude. I share some of the habits that I have formed in my own life and other entrepreneur’s life’s. One of the habits is the power of gratitude because gratitude enables you to focus on what you have and taking you away from what you don’t have. </p>
<p>Chapter seven is titled Love Mondays. I absolutely love Mondays and I believe that the success of your Monday will determine the rest of your week. In this chapter I share a number of rituals, journal, and prayer about my upcoming week. </p>
<p>Chapter eight is Value – Small victories today will change the course of tomorrow. This concept is around how we add value to our clients and our customers. Are we building our business around their needs and wants? Or are we so self-absorbed that sometimes we tailor our business around what we like and what attracts us to it?</p>
<p>Chapter nine is Balance – When we try to burn the candle at both ends we are destined for trouble. </p>
<p>Chapter ten is Self-Discovery – turn yourself loose. The concept of this chapter is about the key to a successful and fulfilled life. I believe that once you know who you are and what your purpose is, that’s when life gets exciting and so the importance of self-discovery is vital. I talk about adversity being a great opportunity for self-discovery because it’s when we go through difficult times and challenges when we really find out who we are and what we are all about. </p>
<p>Chapter eleven is Authenticity – we are all a working progress. </p>
<p>Chapter twelve is Vitality – the opposite of depression is vitality. This chapter is about combating our negative thoughts. When you fill your live with positivity it starves depression and negative thoughts. </p>
<p>Chapter thirteen is Fear – turn adversity into your advantage. So often we allow fear to stifle us and to hold us back. </p>
<p>Chapter fourteen I talk about failure. I have learned so much from my mistakes that I decided to make more. This chapter is about me sharing some of my own learnings that I’ve messed up on and to encourage other people that when they do fail to take the lesson from it. </p>
<p>Chapter fifteen is Setbacks – the only people that don’t get flat tires are those who don’t drive. </p>
<p>Chapter sixteen is Diversion – It’s vital we pay attention to our own mental GPS. We go through times where we get diverted and we can either shut down our project or we can find a solution. This chapter is really about unlocking the ability to be able to divert and to not give up but to find a different way to do it. </p>
<p>Chapter seventeen is Success. For me success is about being at peace with yourself. It’s a journey, not a destination. </p>
<p>Chapter eighteen is called Heart. “I have learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” – Michelangelo. The purpose of this chapter is if we are not living out of our heart, are we really living at all?</p>
<p>Chapter nineteen is Maxims – if you don’t change direction you end up where you are now. In this chapter I sure my 10 maxims which is being authentic, be grateful, be intentional, be a river not a reservoir, invest in yourself, expand your network, practice forgiveness, wear a smile, and do not quit.  </p>
<p>Chapter twenty is the law of Attraction. Google it, research it, picture it, and live it. The concept of this chapter is to encourage people to get the mindset that creates the impression that it’s already within your life and how to make it a reality. </p>
<p>Chapter twenty-one is Influence – effect the environment in which you were planted. </p>
<p>Chapter twenty-two is Change Agent – Disrupting the environment for the greater good. This is a call for people to really stand up for who they are and what they believe in. </p>
<p>Chapter twenty-three is trailblazer. This chapter is about what impression are you going to leave behind for those who are to follow you.</p>

<p>When you have to work over 10 hours a day on the multiple tasks it takes to establish a business and keep one on track, the one thing many entrepreneurs tend to neglect is their own personal health and happiness. From one hard worker to another we all need to slow down a little and consider what we can do to make our lives better. Considering it’s that time of the year when everyone is making new resolutions, why not set some personal goals? </p>
<p>Here is a solid list of resolutions for improving your health and happiness: </p>
<h4>1. SMILE AND LAUGH</h4>
<p>Just as the brain signals your facial muscles to smile when you are happy, the flexing of these muscles sends signals to the brain that there must be a reason to smile. And it starts to feel happy. And a smile brings out the best in you. A laugh can put your life in perspective too. </p>
<h4>2. EXERCISE REGULARLY</h4>
<p>An entrepreneur has to deal with high levels of stress, and regular exercise helps you reduce this. It also fights health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis. And it greatly boosts energy and aids sleep. And exercise also lifts your mood and helps you face the challenges that come your way.  </p>
<h4>3. EAT HEALTHY</h4>
<p>A bagel and a cup of coffee don’t exactly count as breakfast. If you don’t have time, at least have a bowl of quinoa or oats before you start your workday. And instead of munching on fries and gulping down smoothies, opt for nuts or sprouts and fresh fruits. Fat and sugar slow you down; cut down on those. </p>
<h4>4. DON’T SKIMP ON SLEEP</h4>
<p>Margaret Thatcher may have done with 4 hours of sleep a day, but it isn’t the best idea for most. Make sure you get ample shuteye to make sure you feel fresh and energized for the workday. Otherwise, you will just end up as a lousy entrepreneur, and may be a cranky boss. </p>
<h4>5. SET SOME ME-TIME</h4>
<p>Don’t let your work eat up your entire day. Set aside some time when you can be on your own, doing whatever you feel like. It may be catching up on your sleep, reading your favorite book, or just chatting with your mates. It will help you get a mental recharge, one you will need once you are back to being an entrepreneur. </p>
<h4>6. LEARN TO SAY NO</h4>
<p>Saying yes, or even maybe, when you know in your heart that the best answer is no is a bad idea. It will mess up your life, work and relationships. Cannot deliver an order on the required date? Say no. Cannot go out with your best friend this Thursday? Say no. And you’ll see that things get much better. </p>
<h4>7. STAY ON TOP OF SCHEDULE</h4>
<p>While it isn’t always easy to do it, it really is your best bet to work out your life and work. It is tempting to check your email at the beginning of the day, but if you have set your heart on working on a difficult project, stick to your routine. And while it is fun to be spontaneous at times, it is better to keep it in check. </p>
<h4>8. MOST IMPORTANTLY, DON’T BREAK THE RESOLUTIONS</h4>
<p>It is easy to make big proclamations; but often it isn’t easy to keep them. Just taking them won’t do, you need to maintain them too. If you fear that you won’t be able to do it, pin the list down on a board and keep it somewhere you’ll always see it. </p>
<p>Once you do it, even a busy entrepreneur such as yourself will have a happy and healthy life.</p>

He has a positive and generous dog but also a mean spirited angry negative dog. These dogs fight all the time and he doesn’t know who is going to win. The wise man tells him that the dog that will win will be the one he feeds the most, so feed the positive dog.</p>

<p>The Energy Bus is 10 rules for the ride of your life. It’s about a guy name George who is miserable and negative, his team at work is in disarray and he has problems at home. He wakes up Monday morning with a flat tire and he has this important meeting to get to so he ends up having to take the bus to work. George gets on the bus and meets Joy the bus driver who calls him Sugar and shows him 10 rules for the ride of his life. These 10 rules not only help him become a more positive leader but a better father and a better husband. George learns these 10 rules and then applies them to his business, life and work.</p>
